From Your Idea to a CAD Design

A consultation is an integral part of any custom engagement ring. You'll have a designer from Sofia Lior Diamonds who will listen to your concepts and preferences and help you make your ideas come true by selecting the right center stone and figuring out what proportions should it have. After determining the style of your ring, our specialists will provide all the information necessary for production of your engagement ring. Our CAD specialist makes a digital 3D model of your engagement ring according to the chosen center stone and ring design, taking into consideration your finger size.

Review and Approve Your Ring Design

Prior to production, you will be allowed the chance to examine the CAD design of your custom engagement ring. The CAD design enables you to take a more detailed look at how the ring will look. The designer will be able to talk to you about any changes that you wish to make to your design. We will revise the design according to your suggestions and give you a look at the new design. When you are satisfied with the design, then we can start the production process.

Wax Modeling and Metal Casting

Once the CAD design gets approval, the ring model is ready to be cast. Using the latest 3D printing technology, a wax or castable-resin model is created that duplicates the form of your ring. This model is then enclosed in an investment material resistant to heat and melted at high temperatures to form a cavity in the mold. Our master jeweler fills in this cavity with the chosen metal and lets it cool down. Thus, your custom engagement ring becomes a metal piece ready to move on to further processing stages.

Diamond Setting and Final Polishing

After the preparation of the metal setting is complete, the jeweler proceeds with the preparations for the diamonds. Diamonds are selected and inspected in order to establish their color, clarity, and sizes, as well as to make sure that the stones fit into the design. Our master jeweler manually sets every diamond taking into consideration the proper position and securing of the stone. When the process of the diamond setting is completed, the ring is polished in order to have a perfectly polished surface.

Final Quality Inspection

Before your personalized engagement ring is finalized, our experts examine the product itself for any possible issues or problems. We check the quality of the work, position of diamonds, and general quality of finish to ensure your ring looks as designed.
